I've been in a mild state of shock all week over the rapid/unannounced changes at SiriusXM. That's not good DharmaKarma for the new company to pull the plug like they did. I've managed to piece together a few things only because I knew Meg had been spending a lot of hours over on Spectrum 18, but overall they have been even more cryptic than normal with the new changes. I hope they are not adopting a monopolistic attitude now that they've essentially created one with the merger. I see that Vin Scelsa has migrated over to The Loft (channel 29 I think), that would be a good landing place for Pete and Maura to pickup where they left off. Thanks again Pete and Maura for the best 6 hours every week on radio. - -Christopher Johnson Check out the Kennedys' Official Home Page: http://www.KennedysMusic.com/ Fab photos, the Official tour diary, dashboard Buddha haiku, groovy merchandise...what more could you ask for? ------------------------------ Date: Sat, 15 Nov 2008 10:35:03 -0500 From: Christopher Johnson Subject: Re: [JP] Maura on the Demise of Sirius Disorder and the Dharma Cafe For all the Dharma listeners and SiriusXM subscribers - I wrote Vin Scelsa for any news he might have about his schedule on The Loft (Ch. 29) and like the true "dude" he is, he wrote me back within 2 hours. He's been hit with a lot of mail and had written the thoughtful reply that I'm sharing with you all below in hope you will take action to advise SiriusXM of the mistake they've already made and hope they will not only not make any more, but repair the damage the right way by giving Meg a channel back and getting Pete and Maura back on the radio. [start of Vin letter] This all happened to us as unexpectedly and speedily as it happened to you. We Disorderlies are all very sad ... in fact, we find ourselves grieving along with our listeners. Alas, as you know by now, Sirius Disorder is no more, a victim of the merger of Sirius and XM. I will continue to do Idiot's Delight starting next week (11/19) on The Loft 29, live Wed-Thurs Noon to 2, with 4-hour replays Saturday Mid (fri)-4am (sat) and Sunday 10pm-2am, a slight change in the replay schedule. (The Loft - an XM channel - is now on both systems: at Sirius 29 and XM 50.) It is my understanding that the Dave Marsh, David Johansen and Lou Reed shows will also move to The Loft. Larry Kirwin's Celtic Crush will move to the Spectrum as well, although no exact slot has been scheduled as of 11/14. It appears that everyone else on Disorder has been dismissed. Meg Griffin is now scheduled to be on Spectrum 18, 7 days a week, Noon to 6 - but I hear something is astir with regard to Meg, so keep sending your comments to management about her. As you probably know, Disorder was Meg Griffin's baby; she was the soul of the channel. She created a wonderful oasis for us all and deserves our heartfelt tribute. Let management know what you feel about Meg! Maybe we can save at least some of this thing called Disorder if enough people write to management. (I hear that a large listener outcry has already fallen on responsive ears*.) I thank you for your continued support and enthusiasm for Idiot's Delight. Rest assured that I will continue to exert complete autonomy over the form and content of my show, as I always have. The show will rave on in true disorderly fashion, albeit at a new home. Peace, Vin Scelsa * A good set of responsive ears to contact about this is the president and head of Sirius programming, Scott Greenstein SGreenstein@siriusradio.com ... [end of letter] I've already written Scott, won't you too?
