[fantine729@aol.com] [JP] Were the Strangelings at Falcon Ridge? [mad baggins Subject: [JP] Were the Strangelings at Falcon Ridge? Were the Strangelings at Falcon Ridge? Does lightning go from the ground up during a lightning strike in a thunderstorm? I saw Strangelings on the Mainstage during the Gospel Wakeup Call Sunday morning. A rumored appearance by a Strangeling or two at Beth DeSombre's 9AM Dave Carter song circle singalong never materialized. The Sunday at 1:30 Sweet Harmony workshop with the Strangelings, Red Molly, and the Farewell Drifters never materialized either. Maybe the 70 mph winds, drenching sideways rain, and marble-sized hailstones had something to do with that. Bernadette took a direct hit on the head from a pretty good-sized flying projectile, and near-panic ensued at the Dance Stage when it became clear there was a good chance of the tent's collapse with everyone still inside. During the 3-day idyllic stretch of perfect weather prior to this pissy little episode of pouty Mother Nature, I saw either the entire Strangelings band or members of the Strangelings at the GFP, the Loozer's Lounge, the Budgiedome, the Merch Tent, the Workshop Stage, and the Mainstage. Eric Lee, without walking on water, at least not prior to the festival's going "Down in the Flood" when I may have missed something, was so nearly omnipresent and seemingly in 2 places at once throughout the stages of the festival, playing either with the Strangelings, with Gandalf Murphy, or at a campsite with others, godlike attributes must almost certainly be attributed to him. Guitar gods and goddesses? How about Eric among the Fiddle gods and goddesses of the musical pantheon? Did the Strangelings sing "Rain" at the Beatles Forever Workshop? After 3 straight days (Thur-Sat) of matchless blissful peace, "Easy People" feelings, and much musical joy, it really seemed that the storm god, goddess, or whatever, was jealous and wanted to spoil the fun. But no storm god or goddess could disturb the happiness in my heart of getting caught up in the clouds to meet Pete, Maura, Cadence, and Chris Thompson in the air at the Family Stage, momentarily in rapture to help teach the kids and their parents the cool new fist in the air arm pump movement on "I Found a Road" that's sweeping the nation -- one cool Kennedys fan at a time! So rave on, storm gods! After all it was "Just the Rain." Sure I got caught in the rain on Sunday, but the "Strange Magic" of the Strangelings had captured my heart already on Thursday, Friday, and Saturday. Catch me if you can, but I'm already caught! As Pete sings on his new album Guitarslinger -- "You Can't Catch Me" -- !
