["Frank Hartge" Subject: [JP] So, amidst all the angst over appropriateness of posts, has anyone noticed ... .that Pete and Maura have released some great new material on their website and MySpace sites? Pete's tracks, particularly, have made it into frequent rotation in our house, especially the instrumentals, "Guitarslinger", "Django's Train" and "Jesu, Joy of Man's Desiring." The Guitarslinger track seems almost like a self contained "greatest hits" of Pete riffs, as it features several of the pieces he often intersperses into his long mid-song "jams" in their shows. And this version of Jesu is, as far as I can tell, the first time he has released a studio version of this great song, which for years has been a staple of their shows. There are, of course, live versions of Jesu on Positively Live and Hungry for Music. In contrast with these Pete acoustic instrumentals, Maura unleashes a full band "wall of sound" with "Time Will Steal Your Heart", a terrific lament on love (apparently) resisted. "Shades of you hide in my bed, Where I held you out of range, Too beautiful to touch then, A mystery today to know too true to change". The bounty of Kennedys material continues to delight!
