C&M have announced that their Soundscience presentation for kids at Club Passim 4/30 (which just happens to be Katryna's birthday) will also be a CD release of songs from their Soundscience repertoire. They've indicated that the Soundscience material has been done by them any number of times over the years, mostly at schools. I only became aware of it last April, when they did it at Passim as part of the Cambridge Science Festival. I came around to C&M relatively late in the game -- they put out their first album and started touring in 1996 -- whereas the Lancaster Fireworks Show with TK that was the "Bend in the River" for me was in 2005. But this is the first time any of the Soundscience material has been made available in recorded form, to the best of my knowledge. It looks like it will be an EP, since the track listing AFAIK is -- You've Got to Make a Vibration I'm a Body Symphony Wonderful Things About Strings Percussion Discussion No Matter How You Twist It, It's Still a Horn I'm pretty sure they have more Soundscience songs, but those others aren't on the new CD. Has it ever been mentioned that both Chris and Meredith were once science majors at Cornell? I think the music career was mostly for fun from the very beginning. In "Soundscience," C&M try to combine the science of musical instruments with fun for kids, so I think they've stayed true to their roots all along, both the science part and the fun. :-) Bruce Check out the Kennedys' Official Home Page: http://www.KennedysMusic.com/ Fab photos, the Official tour diary, dashboard Buddha haiku, groovy merchandise...what more could you ask for? ------------------------------ End of jangle-poets-digest V9 #152 **********************************
