It seems that we've always been a bit on the prolific side when it comes to recording and releasing CDs, but this past year we kind of outdid ourselves. In a burst of energy, we cranked out three CDs that have hit the shelves, and completed three more, scheduled for release in the coming months. We led off the streak with The Stringbusters "Rhapsody in Uke", transforming ourselves into a ukulele-toting swing duo. Of course, we kicked the "little ukes that could" into high gear, with versions of "Rhapsody in Blue", and Beethovens Fifth Symphony, alongside some choice Billie Holiday covers, showcasing a whole new side of Mauras voice. We shifted gears in the spring, following up the uke CD up with the deep Celtic-influenced folk-rock of the Strangelings, featuring Chris Thompson, Rebecca Hall and Ken Anderson. This led to the bands unforgettable debut at the Falcon Ridge Festival, and the addition of new members Cheryl Prashker and fiddle phenom Eric Lee. Somehow, we managed to slip in the Snacks first CD, "Meet the Snacks". Us, of course, under another moniker, the CD is a rollicking jam session aimed at kids of all ages. Rather than lapse into summer vacation mode, we immediately launched into the completion of our most ambitious CD to date; a thematic project entitled "Better Dreams". Scheduled for release in January, this concept CD will explore the world of dreams, and how they function as a well of creative energy, giving us insight into the realities and illusions of our waking hours. As if that weren't enough, two more CDs, long awaited instrumental efforts featuring Pete on guitar and electric sitar, are also completed and awaiting release next year. So how do we celebrate this burst of creative energy? By packing as much punch into a single show as two performers can muster. The location is the Irvington Town Hall, in Tarrytown New York, and the date is November 30th. Winding down our Northeast touring season for 07, well weave together material from our back catalogue of favorites with the swingin jive of the Stringbusters and the dark neo-psychedelia of the Strangelings playlist, and give a special pre-release preview of songs from "Better Dreams". To make the night even more of a special event, we've worked up a set of jam session tunes featuring our own duo in combination with co-stars Red Molly, for a one-time only five piece folk-rockin' powerhouse. Aside from a brief cameo as part of a multi-media tribute to John Lennon in December at the Alvin Ailey Dance Theatre in Manhattan, this will be our last full show in the New York area before we leave for an extended Southern tour. This will be your last chance to see an extended-length Kennedys set in the New York environs until the late Spring, so make sure you don't miss out on this opportunity to share a night of musical magic, as we celebrate our most productive and creative year. *********************************************** 2) Tour Calendar for November 2007 Saturday, November 3 - 7:30pm The Birchmere, 3701 Mount Vernon Ave, Alexandria, VA 22305 w/Tom Paxton - his 70th birthday celebration!
