Some people "get religion" -- and after last year, I "get" the Closing Song at FRFF. It really took me 9 years of FR-going to come about to this realization. "What was he thinking?!?" I think that I used to think that "Never Turning Back" was too corny for me. But I changed my mind about that. Haven't any of you ever thought something was corny or passe or too old-fashioned? And later come around and said, "Hey wait a minute! I just never saw what I see now!" I know that's happened with me, many many times. I used to think Sarah McLachlan's title cut "Fumbling Towards Ecstasy" was corny, when that album first came out, and I didn't like "Circle" from that album very much either. Then I saw Sarah McLachlan from the second row of the Lincoln Theater at the University of Hartford, came around to the worth of "Circle," and "Fumbling Towards Ecstasy" instantly became my favorite song by her, in a flash. I could multiply examples, no end. Closing Song First verse - Nerissa Nields Second verse - John Gorka Third verse - Joziah Longo Fourth verse - Maura Kennedy Fifth verse - Ben Demerath Sixth verse - Rowan Bros. (don't remember which one) Seventh verse - Chris Thompson Eighth verse - Arlo Guthrie There are a lot of hugs after that song! It's an emotional experience like no other. And I was so proud of Nerissa, Joziah, Maura, and Chris, for their leading the chorus on one verse apiece. This has been quite an undertaking! How do undertakers kick back and have fun, once the stiff is boarded up and under the ground? Another FR, dead and buried, with lots of dirt, 18 reviews in 4 days from me, without even having touched yet on new CD's by the Strangelings, the Snacks, and N&K Nields. "Roads Go Ever On," as the Mad One sang in The Hobbit, but another chapter in the never-ending road chronicle closes for me in 2007. Until next time! :-) Bruce Check out the Kennedys' Official Home Page: http://www.KennedysMusic.com/ Fab photos, the Official tour diary, dashboard Buddha haiku, groovy merchandise...what more could you ask for? ------------------------------ Date: Sun, 5 Aug 2007 08:43:37 -0400 From: "Kathy Sands-Boehmer" Subject: Re: [JP] FRFF Closing Song Bruce, Thanks for all your devoted chronicling of Falcon Ridge and all things Kennedys, Nields, Thompson, etc. etc. etc. etc. kathy Check out the Kennedys' Official Home Page: http://www.KennedysMusic.com/ Fab photos, the Official tour diary, dashboard Buddha haiku, groovy merchandise...what more could you ask for? ------------------------------ Date: Mon, 06 Aug 2007 00:16:59 -0400 From: Gordon Nash Subject: [JP] Horvendile/FRFF 2007/Budgiedome Thursday/Strangelings - Photobucket - Video and Image Hosting I finally started putting my frff pictures online.
