Although C&M were billed as the opener for this year's Fireworks Show, it was in fact the Livelys who opened, i.e. Chris Thompson with her future sister-in-law Kathryn Lively. So this was the 3rd Livelys appearance overall, although Kathryn was also ever-so-briefly a 5th "Mystery Strangeling" at Passim on the song "Didn't It Rain" at the 5/2/07 Full Moon Strangelings show, when Meredith was still onboard, and before Rebecca & Ken joined the group. I joked with Kathryn after the show that this was the Livelys' Lancaster debut! Here's what they played -- Livelys: Hallelujah Summertime (Kathryn lead vocal v. 1, Chris v. 2) Old Man of the Mountain Flashlight Ring of Fire Tanglewood Tree w/ TK This Land Is Your Land w/ TK (Kathryn lead vocal v. 1, 3 sopranos (Maura, Chris, Kathryn) v. 2, Kathryn v. 3, 3 sopranos v. 4) This was Kathryn's first time on "Summertime," "Ring of Fire," and "This Land Is Your Land." "Ring of Fire" was a little re-arranged from the really stunning C&M arrangement of that same song. Here's what TK played after the break -- Kennedys: Life Is Large Midnight Ghost Wall of Death Me Myself & I Minor Swing Rain Kilikilihune Get It Right What's Going On Medley 8 Miles High Rhapsody in Blue Season of the Witch (w/ the Livelys) Matty Groves (w/ the Livelys) Not Fade Away (w/ the Livelys) Like a Rolling Stone Mr. Tambourine Man Sirens Life Is Large TK w/ the Livelys did 2 Strangelings numbers, "Season of the Witch" and "Matty Groves." At Lancaster, Maura sang the verses of "Matty Groves" now done by Rebecca and formerly done by Meredith. I said "formerly," because apparently Meredith, doing the "baby thing" now, is officially out of the Strangelings -- replaced, of course, by 4 people -- Rebecca on vocals, Ken on bass, Chris (now on flute), and Pete (now on percussion) -- ! :-) Whoever thought it would take 4 whole Strangelings to try to cover what just one Meredith could do all by her lonesome? :-) "I'm So Lonesome I Could Cry." :-( Next up for me -- 2 weeks vacation -- then Rebecca & Ken (the other 2/5 Strangelings) in North Attleboro -- and then Full Frontal Five-of-Five Stra ngelings at FRFF, right after that! FFF-'in Amazing! :-) Bruce Check out the Kennedys' Official Home Page: http://www.KennedysMusic.com/ Fab photos, the Official tour diary, dashboard Buddha haiku, groovy merchandise...what more could you ask for? ------------------------------ End of jangle-poets-digest V9 #63 *********************************
