"Ancient airs from the Hebrides" reminded me of one of my all-time favorite albums, "Songs of the Hebrides," featuring Scottish tenor Kenneth McKellar, with incredible orchestrations by Bob Sharples and his orchestra. This is a real album, *not* a Monty Python joke! The album includes "Aignish on the Machair," one of my favorite songs ever. I first heard the record -- London International Series TW 91258 -- on loan from the Arlington Heights Memorial Library, when I was in high school, and I've been hooked ever since. In 2004 it came out on CD, together with (and under the title) "The Songs of Robert Burns" (which was originally London International Series TW 91228), on the Vocalion label, CDLK 4267. I can't recommend "Songs of the Hebrides" by Kenneth McKellar highly enough! :-) > >Wednesday, May 2 - 8:00 pm > >The Strangelings concert & DVD release show > >Club Passim > >47 Palmer St, Cambridge, MA 02210 > >Phone: 617-492-5300 > >Price: $15.00 > >_http://www.clubpassim.org_ (http://www.clubpassim.org) > Hehehe -- tonight, dude! :-) > >Friday, May 25, 2007 - 8:00pm > >The Strangelings > >Guthrie Center > >4 Van Deusenville Road > >Great Barrington, MA 01230 > >Phone: 413-528-1955 > >Price: $15.00 > >http://www.guthriecenter.org/main.shtml > Keeping fingers crossed!
