Subject: [JP] Deval Patrick - Pat Patrick - Like Father Like Sun!   :-) 

Today's Sunday Boston Globe (March 25, page one) blew my mind with the  
revelation, previously unbeknownst to me, that Deval Patrick, Massachusetts' new  
governor, had a famous father, illustrious in his own right -- Pat  Patrick, 
who along with fellow sax-player and musical genius Marshall Allen,  co-anchored 
one of the swingingest horn sections in all jazz -- the Sun Ra  Arkestra!  

I saw Pat Patrick with Sun Ra several times over the years, back when I  
lived in Chicago, in the 70's and 80's.  Sun Ra's Arkestra -- along with  the 
Residents -- ranked with the strangest, most amazing, most theatrical, and  most 
joyful live ensembles I've ever seen.  They were like no one else, and  had to 
be seen to be believed.
