The only way for me to backward was to search for Pete's and Maura's solo stuff from before they got together. And it's a real treasure trove! On some of Pete's old LPs and CDs there are early versions of Same Old Way and St Marks Square, and studio takes on Distant Thunder, Run Red Lights, and Rappahannock. His original version of St Mark's Square has a decidedly grittier edge to it. Where P&M sang "Just another Sunday goin' nowhere, sitting on a bench in St Mark's Square" , Pete's says "just another wino goin' nowhere, sleeping on a bench..." You can occasionally find these on eBay and some of the rare music sites, and they are definitely worth the effort to track down! I tend to listen from "Positively Live" onward, b/c that's my starting point for P&M, but now that this gives more of a frame of reference, I'll go backward. Thanks!
