Deb Angel Fire has great songs -- like "Jesse," "Common Bond," and "A Bend in the River" -- among others -- ! :-) But I know what you mean. I tend to listen to Life Is Large onward, because I first saw TK in the Life Is Large tour. More on pre-LIL in another post. I'm always playing catch up with Nields History, even when Bernadette on another list asks me hard ones that I'm not really sure of anymore! So I try anyway. And since I discovered TK through the Nields connection, I can't do any looking up Kennedys things past without doing TN first. But I digress! I noticed in the program of FRFF 1996, my first Falcon Ridge, that TK were listed not as The Kennedys, but alphabetically under the letter "P" -- as Pete & Maura Kennedy. Checking into this, sure enough! -- The album before Life Is Large, namely River of Fallen Stars, lists the artists as Pete & Maura Kennedy, not as "The Kennedys." Maybe that's sort of a no-brainer, but I hadn't really thought about it much. Technically, from some weird purist's POV, the first album credited to "The Kennedys" could be construed as Life Is Large -- not River of Fallen Stars. Although only the name changed -- not the lineup! :-) TN sort of went the other way OTOH, going from The Nields originally to Nerissa & Katryna Nields. Going different directions you might say -- like 2 ships passing in the night! :-) I have almost no recollection of seeing TK at FRFF '96. I'm pretty sure I saw them there though! I sure do remember seeing them tear up the Falcon Ridge mainstage though, every year they were at the festival thereafter. TK are so "Falcon Ridge" to me personally, that I can't imagine the festival without them, and always have a major cow when they're not picked to play there every year. :-) I'm sure there must be other groups (or even solo artists) who've changed their performing names, without a radical change in personnel. :-) IOW, *not* a change from CS&N to CSN&Y -- ! I was thinking more, "Warlocks" to the "Dead"! :-) Like, Gandalf Murphy & the Slambovian Circus of Dreams -- for instance -- were "The Ancestors," with pretty much the same lineup of Joziah on lead vocals and guitar, Sharkey on lead guitar and vocals, and Tink (not listed that way) on keyboards, flute, and backing vocals.
