(My scrawlings look more like "Rappa! When I Go!?! Feather! Jesse! ukeleles!") But this was a really amazing show. As usual, TK were dead on with the combination of new surprises and old favorites, and aside from gracefully fulfilling a request that was rather out of left field, they also managed to play almost all of my favorite Kennedys songs to hear live. They were really jangly and in the groove musically, too. Some highlights: "Orange Blossom Special" was the best that I have heard it, ever. "Feather in the Flame" (which, in over half a decade of Kennedys listening, I had never heard live) and "Jesse" back-to-back. "When I Go," which I had resigned myself to never hearing live again and was as stunning as ever; their version is still the most emotionally gripping live for me, even more than Bryan Bowers's. "Rappahannock" made me reminisce about Jeff requesting it at the GFP. "Midnight Ghost," which is always amazing live, and "Run Red Lights" with Pete on uke, which is just so fun, even minus the duck walk. Actually, everything on uke, because it's such an absurd instrument yet it sounds so good in his (and her) hands. It was also really great to more officially meet Frank and his wife and some of his friends. Ohio represent. Cheers, ~'becca PS: I still prefer male pronouns in "Gypsy Rose," though. Then again, I go to a college where gender pronouns are often not infrequently on the less normative side...
