We enjoyed meeting another JanglePoets contributor, Chris J. of Pickerington, OH, as well as Greg G., the operator of the On-Line Folk Festival, a cool streaming folk music web site, and Greg's new bride, Kim. The set list: 1. Life Is Large 2. Get it Right / What's Going On / medley 3. River of Fallen Stars 4. This Moment 5. Dharma Cafe 6. Orange Blossom Special 7. Raging Eyes 8. Sin City 9. Galveston 10. Ask him to tell it next time you see them play!) A great start to a "double - header" Kennedys weekend. Next e-mail...on to Cleveland! It was great to see frequent JanglePoets contributor Rebecca and her friends. A couple of friends of mine drove in from Madison, Wisconsin (700+ miles) to see the show. And what an evening it was... Two openings singers - Adam Luhta, followed by Bill Toms. Pete and Maura then played an "on fire" 90 minute set, brimming with even more energy and joy than they usually exhibit, which, as we all know, is really saying a lot! 1. Life Is Large 2. Dharma Cafe 3. Rappahannock 4. Raging Eyes 5. Gypsy Rose 6. This Moment, with a very nice segue into 7. River of Fallen Stars 8. When I Go 9. Midnight Ghost 10. Wall of Death 11. Half A Million Miles 12. Ninth Street Billy 13. Orange Blossom Special 14. Stand 15. Chimes of Freedom 16. Feather in the Flame (my request) 17. Jesse (Rebecca's request) 18. Eight Miles High (Pete on ukulele) 19. Not Fade Away - - encore - 20. A Shot in the Dar movie theme (both on ukuleles) 21. Minor Swing (both on ukes) 22. Beethoven's 5th (Pete solo) 23. Run Red Lights Perhaps it was the influence of being in the same vicinity as the Rock n Roll Hall of Fame and Museum, or maybe the early dose of winter wind and sleet that whipped through Cleveland. Whatever the cause, The Kennedys were ON Saturday night. More than once during the set Maura looked at Pete with an expression that seemed to us to say "where did THAT come from?" And Maura's playing and singing was inspired, too. That was my 18th Kennedys show over ten years. I'm sure they have played River Of Fallen Stars each time, and Saturday night's rendition was absolutely the most stunning ever. Truly a magical experience. Next weekend...Clarkston, Michigan!
