It was not even close to being a remote possibility that I would get lost, and of course I did at first. But with map-wielding navigator Peter at my side, we were soon on the right track and rolling into the driveway of St. Andrew's Church on East Beach Road at the very outskirts of town. This was a benefit show for Habitat For Humanity, and P&M made sure to put in a good word for Chris & Meredith Thompson, whose song "Wood and Stone" is a Habitat For Humanity anthem of sorts. Hopefully St. Andrew's people can hook up with C&M's people in the not-too-distant future to smoke the peace-pipe and make a connection. Here's what TK played -- Life Is Large Rappahannock Half a Million Miles Namaste 9th Street Billy Nuah Shearwater Midnight Ghost Stand Bend in the River Dharma Cafe Get It Right What's Going On River of Fallen Stars Jesu Joy of Man's Desiring Anna & the Magic Gown Medley Chimes of Freedom Sirens (incl. Bouree, Tiptoe thru the Tulips & Rhapsody in Blue on electric ukelele) Not Fade Away 8 Days a Week There was an ice cream social after the concert. This turned out to be a great venue with great people, at a well-attended event. After the show P&M confirmed that their move to Northampton had been a success during the Memorial Day weekend. They've seen Nerissa and her new baby and they confirmed that they are doing well too. The song "Life is Large" took on a completely new meaning for me this time. I was listening to Maura sing the words of the second verse, "I knew a woman, she lived in our town, she had a bad situation, it nearly took her down..." I immediately thought of Nerissa, who a few years ago went through the "Yesterday's Girl" stage, the "chrysallis" stage of retreat and reconstitution, and later re-emerged rejuvenated as a beautiful butterfly to spread her wings so as to fly once more. "Angela spread your wings..." Prior to TK's moving to NoHo, I would never have made that mental connection! "She lived in our town..." :-) With first TN and now TK living in the same neighborhood, the song "This Town Is Wrong" is so *not* about Northampton MA! :-) Bruce Check out the Kennedys' Official Home Page: http://www.KennedysMusic.com/ Fab photos, the Official tour diary, dashboard Buddha haiku, groovy merchandise...what more could you ask for? ------------------------------ End of jangle-poets-digest V8 #36 *********************************
