Jeff Maybe not? :-) 5 years ago today I rendezvous'd with Cone Head at a Kennedys show at the Sounding Board in West Hartford, back in the days when Cone still was coming up to New England for Nields and Kennedys shows, before the "gas wars" began. Since the commencement of the "gas wars," times have changed. But in those days it was still a time of excitement and great promise. The possibilities seemed boundless. "Those Were the Days, my friend, we thought they'd never end..." When TK played Kate Wolf's "Across the Great Divide" at that show, the only time I've ever heard them do that song, it became plain to me that I'd be following TK from that point on. I've loved Kate Wolf's music ever since I first became aware of it, during a California trip back in the 80's. I count myself fortunate to have seen Kate Wolf, just once, at Holstein's in Chicago, before she passed on to the other side. Turns out, Pete in the days before TK had served as a pickup sideman for Kate Wolf, when she was on tour out East! The first time I saw TK -- 5/9/96 at the Bottom Line w/ a full band in a split bill w/ TN -- I was really impressed and wanted to start following them then. But other commitments prevented me from doing that for five more years. Then on 4/14/01, all that changed. Lucky me! I knew I'd crossed another Great Divide. "He's gone away, in yesterday, And I find myself on the mountainside Where the rivers change direction Across the Great Divide."
