They haven't recorded it, but since they've already recorded 2 Dave Carter songs, it might not be out of the question for the future. << That would be cool. The first time I heard C+M, they opened for TK at The Point in Bryn Mawr. Sounded nice and even reasonably good, but they also had a little too much of an "Up With People" feel to take really seriously. Since then (thanks to April and Harry), I've heard their live version of Tanglewood Tree from the FRFF Dave Carter Tribute often enough to develop quite an appreciation for it. (They had done it at The Point, but one hearing wasn't enough to get a full appreciation of how well they fit with the song.) That led me to buying their "Clearwater" CD, which has Tanglewood Tree on it. I really like that CD and would like to get more of their music. Probably some of the credit has to go to Mark Thayer (I think that's his name) for the production, as well as the other musicians involved, but the first time I heard the version of TT that's on Clearwater, I immediately picked up my electric guitar and joined in a jam that went off in a very Crosby Stills Nash and Young electric direction. In other words, from Clearwater, I discovered that there's more depth to their music than just a duo doing an "Up With People" style hootenany. Anyway, the long and short of it is that I'd love to hear Chris and Meredith cover some Kennedys songs. As well as more Dave Carter. :) Ken Check out the Kennedys' Official Home Page: http://www.KennedysMusic.com/ Fab photos, the Official tour diary, dashboard Buddha haiku, groovy merchandise...what more could you ask for? ------------------------------ Date: Fri, 13 Jan 2006 12:45:56 EST From: Nieldsforever@aol.com Subject: Re: [JP] Covers of Kennedys Songs ? It'll give you goosebumps. In fact, Chris & Meredith Thompson Live is even better than Clearwater IMO, being I think their best album yet. And except for the song "Amazing Grace," it's all new or different material, not just a rehash of stuff from other albums. By all means check out the Live album if you get the chance! :-) _www.cmthompson.com_ (http://www.cmthompson.com) Bruce Check out the Kennedys' Official Home Page: http://www.KennedysMusic.com/ Fab photos, the Official tour diary, dashboard Buddha haiku, groovy merchandise...what more could you ask for? ------------------------------ End of jangle-poets-digest V8 #5 ********************************
