We're pretty excited to be seeing them tonight at their yearly Sounding Board show in West Hartford. It's always a nice crowd and a warm sounding space. TK's Sounding Board show in 2001 was a revelation to me and and a "Bend in the River" for me, a big turning point. I first saw TK with TN 5/9/96 at the Bottom Line at one of the emotionally most difficult times for me ever. I loved TK right away, the first time I saw them, it was love at first soundbite. That was a full-band Kennedys show for the release of Life Is Large. I was amazed, and wanted to start following TK then. But my commitments prevented me from doing that, as I continued to follow TN with fervor. Then another crisis, precipitated by TN's layoff due to Katryna's maternity leave, found me meeting up with Cone Head (when he still used to come up to New England) at that Kennedys Sounding Board show, when they blew me away playing Kate Wolf's "Across the Great Divide." That was enough to clinch it for me at my own "Great Divide," and I've been waving the Kennedys standard ever since, now even years after Cone Head has ceased to come up this way or meet me at Kennedys events.
