Subject: [JP] Journaling for Peace

The curriculum for Nerissa Nields' and Tom Duffy's upcoming "Journaling
for
Peace" seminar -- including discussion of Gandhi, Thoreau, and Martin
Luther
King Jr. -- reminded me very much of the ideals of Pete and Maura
Kennedy.

TN and TK are a "Tribe" of "One Heart, One Soul."

Journaling For Peace group starts January 15 at Nerissabs house in
Northampton, MA. Participants may join in person and/or via e-mail.

We will meet on Saturday morning and workshop until late afternoon on
Jan.
15. After this initial In Person meeting, Nerissa will give reading,
writing and
action assignments once a week for eight weeks online.

We will be reading from a diverse group: Thich Nhat Hanh, the Bible, the
Koran, Emerson, Thoreau, Gandhi, Martin Luther King, Jr., Rumi. (Weekly
assignments will be very short-1 paragraph or page at most.)

Sample Weekly Assignment:
Reading: Sermon on the Mount
Writing: Journal freestyle for 2 pp. Focus on your bvalues.b What, if
anything, would you die for?
Action: Have one conversation with someone you know you disagree with.
Discuss that very subject without getting into an argument.

Participants share thoughts and feedback via email and/or phone and post
thoughtful journal entries or essays on a website, if they like. Tom
Duffy,
mediator, freelance writer and journalist (Lawyerbs Weekly, People
Magazine) will be
co-facilitating. (Hebs also my adorable finance.) Cost: $100 for the
eight
week program. $50 if you only participate on line.

I don't know how many JanglePoets subscribers are also members of the fan
club...

But if you're not, you missed a great Christmas package. It included a CD
of a
radio show from August 1999, when Pete & Maura appeared on Alan Haber's
Pure
Pop radio show. Songs included an early version of Half of Us, The Kids
Are
Alright, and a delightful "radio drama" about the birth of pure pop, with
P&M
performing all the parts in an imagined scene from when the Beatles
recorded
Please Please Me.
