Then they were probably ill-founded criticisms, that need not detain us. I suppose one could think of negative things to say about Schweitzer's "Reverence for Life," too, if you see what I mean. :-) "Life isn't being destroyed nearly enough for my taste!" :-) The Bush response to Bin Laden has been to go off and attack Iraq. I have often thought how stupid this would look to Henry David, if he were here among us today. Thoreau was a thoughtful man, and his thoughts still have relevance even today. Our friend Bernadette reports that Nerissa & Katryna played a new song at the Tin Angel last night called "Church of All Faiths." Whether or not that really is the title, that reminded me at once of TK's "Stand" with the line, "Allah Buddah Yahweh Jesus Brahma..." If TK can be "Easy People," why NOT have a little influence going the other way as well? :-) I've long thought that some Nields songs show traces of Kennedys influence. But more rightly stated, I think TN and TK are of one Tribe, "One Heart, One Soul," if you see what I mean. ;-) We're lucky to have both of them. I know I've been blessed. Certainly TK have been a positive influence for good in my own life. When I think of TK's poetic sense of wonder at living... The insights into the uniqueness and the specialness of all of life and of nature... The brilliance of hues and colors, the vivacity of evocation... The kickass musical statements... The humor and the laughter... The moral seriousness... The thoughtfulness and compassion for the rights of all people of all colors and all stripes of belief... Shoot. What some find not to their taste, is really such a big part of what I like *best* about the Kennedys. I Know What I Like. Gandalf Murphy has a very spiritual outlook on life too, as witnessed by their songs "Call to the Mystic," "Living with God," and "Talkin' to the Buddha." And of course Joziah and his bandmates are so real and so sincere, not phonies. I don't personally see much point in taking too seriously someone's probably thoughtless dissing of things that I've come to hold in a special place in my heart. As TK sing, I can only explain such lack of understanding in the words, "I'm Not You." If you think I'm going to let someone else's carelessness darken my outlook on life -- "Don't Hold Your Breath." :-) In the Dark Days that are coming, I think we should be holding on all the more to the Good in our lives that's really Real, like TK, and be celebrating life loudly, without letting the cult of Bush pirates and phonies and their henchmen of killjoy "rain" on our parade. You only go around once in life... Why not grab for the gusto and embrace the Love Train when it comes chugging our way into the station? :-) "People get ready, there's a train that's coming..."
