But she had a really good reason to shed hers last year. :-) I cut mine off (my bracelet, silly) at the first opportunity this year. I didn't want to get "hung up" in this new tradition. Maybe the FRFF closing song has finally begun to make its mark on me. "Never Turning Back." Maura sang the first verse of the FRFF closing song this year, even though TK weren't "at" the festival. Correction. TK weren't on the bill at any of the stages this year. But boy were TK ever "at" this year's FRFF. Stephen, Peter, and I caught TK in 5 separate sets, 3 at their Sirius Radio Booth, 1 at the Budgiedome, and of course the unforgettable, herstoric, and absolutely amazing GFP Kennedys set at 3:30 PM on Thursday. I said 3:30 PM on purpose, since any number of performers were playing songs at the GFP at 3:30 AM on Saturday night too. No Gandalf Murphy creeping out of the night like last year, but we did have Friction Farm again this year, and WA9 briefly put in a late night appearance as well. TK also came onstage during Tracy's set, during N&K's set, and during the Gospel Wakeup Call Sunday morning. Maura not only sang the first verse of the FR closing song, she also conducted all the singers on the stage. I was really proud of Pete and Maura for (once again) turning what could have looked like a slight into one really terrific weekend of "Working on a Groovy Thing." TK embody the FR spirit better than anyone else I know. The Martin Family singers, who have opened for TK, absolutely blew me away during their GFP set on Saturday afternoon. They were so phenomenal that I cannot describe them. I'm really sad that I won't get to see them again for maybe a long time now, and that David Martin's children will have grown as much by then as my own 2 boys have shot up like Jack on his Magic Beanstalk. Cadence also did a set at the GFP on Saturday, just after dinner. She received a returning hero's welcome. GFP *hearts* Cadence Carroll. A lot of music was played at the stages during the festival too. :-) >~ April > >who will be playing, Come And Get Your Love for her excercise group at work >today :-) "Come and Get Your Love" was the theme song of this year's GFP, whether we wanted it to be or not. But I have to admit, Redbone has seldom sounded better, than coming out of Cone's car at Falcon Ridge. :-) === End of Fwd === Check out the Kennedys' Official Home Page: http://www.KennedysMusic.com/ Fab photos, the Official tour diary, dashboard Buddha haiku, groovy merchandise...what more could you ask for? ------------------------------ End of jangle-poets-digest V6 #45 *********************************
