Subject: [JP] the Sheila-folk-a-rama-mobile is gone
Last night, between exits four and five on the Mass Pike, my beloved 1989
Pontiac Grand Am, which has gotten me to more Falcon Ridges and more
Birchmere TN/TK shows than really should have ever been possible, my transpo
to my guitar lessons (which happen to be 100 miles away from where I live),
the source of endless folk music adventure and mishap (New Year's Eve/Day
2000/2001 being the most infamous) up and halfway down the eastern seaboard,
breathed its last gasp after 160,601 miles. While it died not in the direct
line of fire (which would be en route to or on the way back home from a folk
show), it was giving valiant service trying to get me back home after
spending Thanksgiving in NY state. For several months now, it had been
running without reverse, requiring truly creative parking maneuvers.
For all those who had been in my car or had sighted my car along the Mass
Pike at some time or for those who have answered, in response to someone's
query, "whose car with the Kennedys and Nields and Dar and EFO bumper
stickers?" "oh, that HAS to be Sheila's," thanks for the memories. Matt, I
found something of yours this afternoon while cleaning it out (Nooker Libby's
CD -- commerical break: visit http://www.libbywiebel.com/ to order
yours!).
For those in the past couple of months who have pushed me out of a parking
space after a show, I am grateful, and you don't have to worry about doing
that anymore!!
I REALLY thought it had ONE MORE Birchmere trip in it, truly I did, but I
guess it was not to be. Besides which, Bob had already insisted that we were
going to take his car. Something about his having reverse or not worrying
about MAKING it there or something.
Oh, God, I have to go viist Bulletproof to replace all of my bumper stickers.
And Dashboard Buddha and Dasboard Squeaky Frog are homeless!!! This is a
sad, sad day. But, I will be at the Birchmere this Friday, with Bob and his
dad and stepmom. It's their first time meeting me, so feel free to come by
and make them believe that I know EVERYONE in DC! ;-)
Peace,
Sheila and Cosette
(who is the bravest trooper of a kitty, since she was with me when we broke
down and had to hang out in the cold and all)
