This was originally posted to the Nields Nook. I've added a note of explanation re: my discovery of The Kennedys at the bottom. ==================================================== November 6 is Bruce and Karen Palmatier's TWENTIETH (20th) wedding anniversary. During those 20 years, Karen has worked (in order) as an Interim Associate Pastor at a church in St. Paul, MN; as a Wendy's fast-food counter clerk in St. Paul, MN; as a Youth Pastor at a church in Chicago, IL; as Chaplain at a Children's Home in Cromwell, Connecticut; and as the lone Pastor of a church in Quincy, Massachusetts. During those same 20 years, Bruce wrote 6 oratorios ("Middle-earth," "Creation and Apocalypse," "Light on Bethlehem," "Slaughter of the Innocents," "Farewell to Middle-earth," "Light of the World") --- and then spent nearly all of the last 10 years (1994-2002) following the Northampton, Massachusetts folk rock band The Nields. Karen is to be commended for her saintly patience throughout, as well as for her firm command of knowing how to balance the checkbook through thick and thin. Bruce is grateful, but still sorry he missed the Nields Trio Era (1992-1993), since he lived during those two years in Cromwell, CT, completely unaware of the Trio Nields, who lived in Windsor, CT. And Connecticut is quite a small state. Sons Stephen (13) and Peter (8) play the trombone and cello, respectively, and have enjoyed dashing off with their dad on mad adventures (whenever possible) almost as much as their dad has enjoyed having them come along. ==================================================== I discovered The Kennedys when I saw them open for The Nields at the Bottom Line on 5/9/96. I've saved that Kennedys set list from '96, the only Kennedys set list in my possession, and was showing it to Pete after the Acoustic Cafe show, just the other night. I am indeed very grateful.
