I finally got to meet Gandalf in person, they are as easy and cool as I expected them to be. We got some new songs. A small audience, but an enthusiastic bunch @ Maker, although they did not check my bag as someone here claimed they would. The last Kennedys show @ Makor was the day before Falcon Ridge 2001, the first time the Kennedys played w/ Dave and Tracy, so Dave was on their minds of course. In both sets there was not much chatter. It was also e.e. cummings birthday, which is serendipitous b/c the wedding I attended in L.I. over the weekend had some heavy e.e. quotes in the ceremony. Maura read a few of e.e.'s poems. She is a very gifted poetry reader. must be the jeans. :-) e.e. poem Patchin Place segue into River of Falling Stars **Original Sin - new song, very good song. There's a line 'bout buddhists standing on front of a sheriff and Sister Rose and Brother Moses Didn't It Rain Fortuneteller Road Can't Kill Hope With A Gun Bend In The River (P+M say they like to watch the Mission on mute and just play the soundtrack) **Dave song, i forget the title, "#92, shining city" y'all know it. I think it's on drum hat buddha. [from Sheila: It's "Happytown," indeed from DHB] P+M talk about Dave a bit, how they met him the last time they were there and how he'd given them his tape on 67th St. **When I Go segued into Run Red Horses (which Maura claimed was a surprise to her but which really worked beuatifully both musically and lyrically Sea Chanty/Down Down Down e.e. poem, my notes say "yes by microcosms" and "merest me" Sirens, with Pete doing more harmony with Maura than I'm used to, those ever-morphing Kennedys. Maura solo on a chair (she rocks) Get It Right *encore* Life Is Large Gandalf: Slambovia Circus Come To The Mystic - *new song* (J says this is a tip of the hat to van morrison and hasn't been sung before) Genius, request by me, to which Tink warns "if we play 'Genius' there will be a new song you don't get to hear," but they played it anyway, and then a few new songs, some of which may be conflated here: If The Sun Refused To Shine Better Life Sullivan Lane (a song about ADD) **Chinese song* requested by Maura, apparently she heard them singing it backstage somewhere and wanted them to sing it live. I hope they do this more often. It is awesome. I don't know the song's name, but Josiah gave us a URL, cuijiangonline, thouigh Tink protested "that's not how he spells it." She's In Her Own World - new song -"This one's about Tink and my daughter." Yodelling Bike (I can't wait for the new album, which they said will be appearing SOON!!!) Little Bit Of Love Sissy Song *new song, title unannounced Never Fit *encore* Alice Sorry if I got some Gandalf titles wrong. I'm still a novice, but I will surely travel to see Gandalf again. It was also fun wearing my Gandalf shirt. Now if only we could get the Kennedys to make a shirt. travel safely all, bern, "maybe I'll hang around a while, just to be sure..."
