Well, there's nothing like a Kennedys show to turn that into a "raging fire." I've been to a lot of Kennedys show since I first saw them in January of 1999, and each show has been an inspiration. There is so much positive energy emanating from the stage, it flows into the audience. All you have to do is open yourself up to it. Saturday night I sucked-up as much of that energy as I could, because I needed to stoke that dying ember. Anyway, Jammin' Java is a GREAT venue and Pete & Maura put on a GREAT show. And, for me, there was an added bonus as Antje Duvekot opened for them. She wowed me at the Falcon Ridge Artist Showcase, and was wonderful in her short opening set. The Kennedys played a variety of their songs. Pete did his best "Bushism" by saying "We'll be playing some of our old songs and some of our new songs, and here's one of them." Another highlight was the beautiful and touching Dave Carter tribute. I realized that I was sitting at the same table I sat at during Dave & Tracy's last show on July 17th. Here's the awesome setlist: River of Fallen Stars Angel & You Half Of Us (I LOVE this song) Feather in the Flame Common Bond Angels Cry Bend in the River Rappahannock DAVE CARTER TRIBUTE When I Go Happytown (All RIght With Me) (Dave Carter's Kennedys song) Shearwater --> Get It Right BREAK Wall of Death Didn't It Rain (The Kennedys Dave Carter song) Jesse Can't Kill Hope With A Gun Fortune Teller Road Down, Down, Down Ride the Red Horses Sirens Life Is Large ENCORE Run Red Lights sigh. No more Kennedys shows on the horizon. But, I can relive this show again and again in my mind. don dreaming of blue skies (is) where I wanna be -- Regan Don Semmens; Richmond VA; donsem@attbi.com Buy Regan's new CD "Coming or Going?" http://www.cdbaby.com/reganmusic2 Rob Buck Memorial Scholarship Fund http://gottabuck.org/ Check out the Kennedys' Official Home Page: http://www.KennedysMusic.com/ Fab photos, the Official tour diary, dashboard Buddha haiku, groovy merchandise...what more could you ask for? ------------------------------ End of jangle-poets-digest V4 #113 **********************************
