Many of her records have books somewhere on the cover. Her two CDs of folk music covers, "Other Voices, Other Rooms" and "Other Voices, Too: A Trip Back To Bountiful" are both named for novels. Hopefully, Clock Without Hands will lead Bern to discovering the joys of Nanci's other CDs and there will be another Nanci fan - another one of those "Friends Out In The Madness". Nanci's two CDs that come closest to CWH stylistically, are "Flyer" and "Other Voices, Other Rooms". Other Voices, Too isn't that far off either, except that Nanci is joined by so many other singers on the record - to the extent that, on some songs, Nanci only sings lead on a couple of lines. But, no matter where each record may fall stylistically, her writing has always been superb. Ken now listening to "Once In A Very Blue Moon", which contains the original "Friend Out In The Madness" and is making me think that it's no wonder that her newer material is always going to face heavy scrutiny - because she set such a high standard so early in her career. I'd go so far as to say that, if you like Clock Without Hands, skip Flyer, OVOR, and OVT and go straight to this masterpiece for your next venture into the world of Nanci. Sorry I missed it... Everything started out fine. Then suddenly around 3:30 PM out on I-95 my car, Mang, starts running rough enough that I was affraid it was going 2 crap out on me. I had 2 abort the mission & just hope I could make it back 2 Delaware. It put me in such a bad mood that I didn't even stop @ the Angler on Kent Narrows. I'm begining 2 realize that Mang, my sentra, has been nothing but a problem since I aquired it. I don't think this car is me. I can't have such low technology hindering my pursuit of happiness. I simply cannot function W/ these kind of restraints. Any car is better than a bunk car. I've driven better Hinos. Did Glenn & Erin meet the Ks? Watch out 4 that guy, he'll get U in trouble Rhia. My cousin Glenn is a big Kahuna, ay? He's a surfer W/ a great sence of humor. I'm glad they made it 2 the show. Did they say how they liked the show? I hope P&M finally got out of Carolina, but if it's any consolation I think it's something astrological going on here. It's not often that the Ks & I have mechanical failures simutaniously. I think a Pluto retrograde is a pain in Uranus... or something like that. So I settled 4 watching Xcellent Women W/ Rifles & Snow Skis... (ausgeziegnet fraulines mit riflen und schneis shiis). These R not people I would want chasing me. Unfortunately they missed most of Josh's set, but I made sure to tell them how great he is. I also told them they definitely need to make it up to Carborro for the Nields show in March. So... Pete and Maura... Did you make it home safely?! Let's hope so! - -rhiannon "Caroline dreams That's all she'll ever do If she doesn't wake up Won't her dreams come true?" -the nields!
