I certainly hope that Pete and Maura make it out of North Carolina okay. Charlotte and I made it back to Asheville with no problems. We showed up at the 6 string Cafe at about 7:40 or so. Josh Lamkin (opening for the kennedys) was standing outside. Josh is an Asheville folk singer, so we've known him and his music for quite a while. We got him nice and glittery before the show. Then we went inside and saw Pete and Maura. It was SO very nice to see them again. I heard my name and turned around to see nooker Dave Scocca (dave, are you on the JP list?). Josh opened his set with "love in the health food store"... which makes so much sense to anybody from a hippy kinda place. He also played "i could drown in you", "let's get out of this town", and "good again". as well as a few others. It was an awesome set. And any of you that have never checked out josh, REALLY SHOULD! REALLY REALLY REALLY! He's one of my very favourite musicians. Plus he's a really nice guy, which always helps. The Kennedys opened up with Life as Large... of course. I love that song. I really love that song. They played our two requests... "Pearl's Eye View" and their version of "Easy People". They played lots of new songs. We all loved "get it right". That was Josh Lamkin's favourite, i think. I also love "nickletown". They looked right as us Jangle Poets during that line of "river of fallen stars". Dashboard Buddha Central and South were both present. They had arm wrestling matches after the show. DB-Central has taken a vow of silence...and I'm not sure he'll ever squeak again. It's kinda sad. But he's going to learn to write haiku. It was great finally officially meeting Natalie's mom... (kate riess...right?). After seeing them everywhere from NC to NY in the past couple of years. We also met Glenn and Erin... Conehead's first cousin and his wife. Turns out they live less than 45 minutes from where I am from. New Bern and Jacksonville are SO close. We thought that was pretty cool. After the show we hung out and chatted for quite a while. I can't wait 'til the May Birchmere show!!!!
