The haiku is the domain of Dashboard Buddha (and not even my Dashboard Buddha, I might add)!! I was merely the forwarder. There was a consensus that The Kennedys put on the most impressive show of the weekend. The Paperboys and Berkley Hart (who sold out of CDs) weren't bad, either. In addition to these groups, others on the playbill included Side By Side (who appeared with TK on New Year's Eve at Starland), Kitty Donohoe, Weavermania, Tom Chapin, Steve Chapin, Jen Chapin, Schooner Fare, Joe Glazer and Modern Man. Here's the set list TK played after receiving the annual Kate Wolf Memorial Award: Across the Great Divide (acapella verse of the Kate Wolf song) Life is Large Run Red Lights Angels Cry Jesu, Joy of Man's Desiring Why Winonna Why Orange Blossom Special Not Fade Away Life is Large (reprise) Pete and Maura said the award meant a great deal to them. Pete recounted the times he and Mike Auldridge accompanied Kate Wolf at the Birchmere. They dedicated their set to Kate. On Saturday night, they let their guitars do the talking: River of Fallen Stars --> Come into My Kitchen --> Down Down Down Like a Rolling Stone (accompanied by Tom Chapin and the Steve Chapin Band) The weekend was a tribute to Harry Chapin, who died 20 years ago last July. Pete and Maura were brought up on stage to accompany the Chapins at various times as well as in the finale on both nights -- which was Harry's song, Circle. Despite the first snowstorm of the year in D.C., Saturday night's house was at capacity. - -- Jay "The older I grow, the more I distrust the familiar doctrine that age brings wisdom." - -- H.L.
