We had a pretty impressive one on New Year's Eve in Northampton (me, Rhiannon, Jim, Anelle, Charlotte)....though, does it count as a Jangler quorum if we were not gathered to see The Kennedys? I believe there was a smaller quorum at the Starland on NYE too, no (Libby and Jay)? Charlotte was also with me last weekend at Nerissa and Katryna's show (in the Jangle world, two is a quorum), and Rhiannon was listening to the show via cell phone, so that was a virtual third member present. Can't you just FEEL the energy? We are gathering force and momentum....we are to be reckoned with. Everyone have a great weekend, whether you're seeing The Kennedys in Dranesville or Nerissa and Katryna at the Barns. I will expect thorough reviews of both shows (someone PLEASE tape Get It Right? Who and where are the jangle-nookers? - -> Jangle-poets and Nields-nookers... us crazy fans on this list and the nields-nook. And a quorum... enough people to make it official... whatever we might decide "it" is that particular evening! *grin* I believe at some point, we defined a quorum to be... not necessarily that 2/3 that is "standard" but rather... enough jangle-poets (or jangle-nookers?) gathered together who say... "yup, we've got a quorum..." It's considered bad practice, you see, if there isn't a proper quorum of us available at any show where it's reasonable that "we" (whomever decides they want to participate in quorum activities) might have shown up (i.e. if a quorum of us don't show up in Antarctica... well... that's forgivable... I'd hope! *grin*). Was there a New Year's quorum? Yes, I was at Starland... but I didn't get to meet Jay! So we didn't make the official "quorum declaration"... BUT... Jay, if you saw me... I was the blondie wearing black with a bright fuscia scarf... so if it's OK to make the declaration after the fact, then I guess it hasn't been long since I was part of a jangle-quorum! :) Anyway... unless something goes drastically wrong, I'll be around to help with the quorum declaration... tomorrow night!! *grin* Libby, who is busy this afternoon recording fun folk songs and silly nursery rhymes for her baby cousins... and who believes that a child is never too young to learn "If I had a Hammer" and "This Land is Your Land"... but decided to veer away from "Universal Soldier" and "You Ain't Goin' Nowhere" until the kids are at least 5... :) - -- ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Libby Wiebel | ewiebel@cs.wm.edu | http://www.cs.wm.edu/~ewiebel ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ there is a hope that's been expressed in you the hope of seven generations maybe more and this is the faith that they invest in you it's that you'll do one better than was done before inside you know, inside you understand inside you know what's yours to finally set right and i suggest, and i suggest to you and i suggest this is the best part of your life ~ susan werner ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Check out the Kennedys' Official Home Page: http://www.KennedysMusic.com/ Fab photos, the Official tour diary, dashboard Buddha haiku, groovy merchandise...what more could you ask for? ------------------------------ Date: Fri, 11 Jan 2002 17:20:06 -0500 From: "Ken Stiffler" Subject: RE: [JP] JanglePoets Quorum/ N.VA. And I've seen TK twice since I last saw TN and, after all, The Barns of Wolf Trap is a great venue to see *anyone*, so I have to lean towards TN this time. Ken tempted to try to catch the first fifteen minutes or so of TK anyway. . . but then, I know I won't leave in time to see TN - and hoping to see TK in Sykesville on the 23rd - I already have tickets for TN in Massachusetts on the 24th, so Sykesville is on my way (coming from Virginia Beach). Yeah, that's the way to look at it. It's on my way - so I *have* to stop. :) Check out the Kennedys' Official Home Page: http://www.KennedysMusic.com/ Fab photos, the Official tour diary, dashboard Buddha haiku, groovy merchandise...what more could you ask for? ------------------------------ End of jangle-poets-digest V4 #9 ********************************
