Thanks to my great friends Libby & Joanne I actually made the over 3 hour drive up there. I had decided that I didn't have the energy to make the trip myself, but when Libby and I started the "I'll go if you'll go" conversation I knew that I'd be up there. :-) DelMarVa is no Falcon Ridge, but has it's own unique "charm." I wasn't too sure when the sign to the festival was pointing into someone's driveway. But after a little drive down a small road there was a big open space for parking and vendors. Another path took us to the stage itself. It was a great pleasure to finally see Andy & Denise play an actual show, since the first time I saw them was at a "guerilla showcase" at FR. They did not disappoint, although the drunk heckling them right before one of their most beautiful songs (Broken Romeos) did. Oh well, I'm sure he had a good time (if he remembers being there at all). If you haven't heard Andy & Denise I highly recommend you go to their web site www.andyanddenise.com and check out their music. The Kennedys came on an hour later and put on a fantastic show! I hadn't seen Pete & Maura play for quite awhile (not counting FR) and it sure was great to feel all that positive energy and fantastic music coming from the stage. Highlights for me were "Pick You Up" (a request from yours truly), "Run Red Lights" (Pete's intro keeps getting better and better...now the place has chicken wire around the stage) and "Easy People." Wow, what a great treat! The new song, "Finally Get It Right," reminded me a little bit of "What's Goin' On?" on the verses. The chorus is very cool. Hope to hear that again soon. I brought my new camera along, and while I'm still trying to get the hang of it, I did get some pretty good pics. I've put some of them up on the web. Go to http://www.concentric.net/~donsem/delmarva_01.htm to see them. And, even though Cone threatened me, there is a picture of him on the "This Land Is Your Land" page. (boy was I torn between wanting to be up on stage and wanting to take pictures of this great jam). don So don't tell me hate is ever right or God's will Those are the wheels we set in motion ourselves And the whole word weeps and is weeping still Though shaken I still believe the best of what we all can be and the only peace this world will know can only come from love -- Carrie Newcomer, "I Heard An Owl" Don Semmens; Richmond VA; donsem@concentric.net Visit my Regan Site http://www.concentric.net/~donsem/regan.htm Rob Buck Memorial Scholarship Fund http://gottabuck.org/ Check out the Kennedys' Official Home Page: http://www.KennedysMusic.com/ Fab photos, the Official tour diary, dashboard Buddha haiku, groovy merchandise...what more could you ask for? ------------------------------ Date: 15 Oct 2001 18:49:48 EDT From: CONE HEAD-REX Subject: [JP] Re: [DelMarVa 10/13/2001] Don Semmens wrote: > Well, quorum or no quorum I truly had a great time Saturday night. > > Thanks to my great friends Libby & Joanne I actually made the over 3 hour > drive up there.
