As I pulled in2 the parking lot the Kennedys were live on the radio. WPKN Bridgeport is the most eclectic station I've ever heard! They chatted & played, plugging that evenings show in Black Rock. The Acoustic Cafe is a most comfortable, intimate room 4 a Kennedys Xperience. Rich provides the perfect atmosphere W/ good food, good coffee & tea, good company & GREAT MUSIC! This was the only time I've seen the Kennedys since FRFF. These have been tough times & especially so 4 any creative artist. I really had my doubts how the 'peace & love' was going 2 play over the 'beat the war drum' bandwagon propaganda that's reaching hysterical proportions. Pete & Maura handling this most difficult juxtaposition quite well. Maura's EZRider jean's jacket kind of sais it all... Pete played slide W/ the shaft of a small US flag durring Come Into My Kitchen... It's all history now. We did not have enough members 4 a JanglePoets qourum @ this show, althought the place was packed 2 SRO & most definately was a sell-out. Cadence showed up durring the 1st set after per4ming earlier in the day in Saratoga, NY, which if U don't know, is a pretty good ride. The Kennedys will B playing the Huntington Folksong Society in Centersport, Long Island next Sat night. Sounds like a real good time. I think a ferry runs from Bridgeport. I got my request for "Feather in the Flame," and Cone got a whole song dedicated to him. What goes around comes around, dedication-wise. Yay for Cone! He's gonna be needing a "Cone's Choice" for the Kennedys now, as well as for the Nields. I was so enthralled in my front-row seat I forgot to jot down the set list, which certainly included, in no particular order: Life Is Large Highway 10 Come In My Kitchen Chimes of Freedom (Byrds cover) Bells and Loaves and Letters The Coo Coo Pick You Up Common Bond Angels Cry Hotel Paradiso Commerciale (poem) River of Fallen Stars Feather in the Flame Tribe Free Right as Rain Not Fade Away (Buddy Holly cover) Rappahannock Orange Blossom Special Bend in the River Run Red Lights Try to Explain (Graverobbers cover) Pete Guitar Jam (including Hendrix-esque Star Spangled Banner) This Land Is Your Land (singalong) Life is Large - reprise I must've forgotten a couple of songs in there somewhere. It's good to be able to have the Kennedys and Cadence Carroll come to town, to weave their instrumental magic and their vocal hypnotics, to lift our spirits and to warm our hearts, in "These Times We're Living In." Yay for Cadence, Yay for the Kennedys, and Yay for Yay!!!
