I'd never seen him before... I think he should think about switching from a folk singer who tells funny stories to a standup comedian who also happens to write songs. His "Survivor" song is one of the most hilarious things I've ever heard. And then the Kennedys... I'm not the most seasoned fan, don't even have all the CDs... but I can really appreciate when I see a band twice in a few months and they don't perform the exact same show... I really liked the song they did that never made it into the closing credits of a movie, I don't remember the title exactly, something about Get It Right? Anyway there were lots of favorites like Life Is Large (of course), River of Fallen Stars, Dickey Chappelle, Pick You Up, Can't Kill Hope, Bells & Loaves & Letters, as well as stuff like Orange Blossom Special, Patsy Cline's "Crazy", and The Song I Needed To Hear, Richard Thompson's "Wall of Death". And lots of stories: about their wedding (this is Syracuse, after all), about where certain songs were written, about Nanci Griffith and Kenny Rogers, about Dubyah... What a wonderfully entertaining night. Thanks Pete and Maura. Make the Pie Bigger! Y4Y! I guess I couldn't help making that unconscious correction!
