They came on after six hours of music had been playing as one of the featured acts and brought Cadence Carroll to the stage with them. The brief set started with Life is Large and included Rappahannock, Orange Blossom Special, River of Falling Stars and Cadence's round of Revolve/Evolve (I don't know the true title of that tune.) During the set, Pete started playing Love Train while Maura got a love train dance going through the crowd. They had an air guitar demonstration and closed with Not Fade Away. This was not the typical open-air set we've heard this summer. They were clearly having a blast and the audience was, too. That's not all -- P&M were brought back to the stage as side performers with the featured artist of the evening -- Tom Paxton -- to close the show. Also with Paxton was Robin Bullock on mandolin. What a closer! Cadence also got to play on one of Paxton's songs. What an experience for her -- one I know she will remember for the rest of her life. This festival is only in its second year, but it has all the elements to become one of the best festivals on the East Coast. The festival host, Maureen Harrigan, said from the stage that she might go two days with it next year. That would be twice as good. She had events going in two venues at once -- there were children's activities happening in the barn while the main stage had music constantly from noon until 10 p.m. I saw a familiar face hanging around the sound booth from early on. It was Cone Head, who was there to record. He was as excited to see Groovelily as the Kennedys. It was great to see him again and to know we're all going to get to hang out next weekend at Falcon Ridge, too. I can't wait. - -- Jay Check out the Kennedys' Official Home Page: http://www.KennedysMusic.com/ Fab photos, the Official tour diary, dashboard Buddha haiku, groovy merchandise...what more could you ask for? ------------------------------ Date: Mon, 23 Jul 2001 10:23:05 EDT From: Fantine729@aol.com Subject: [jangle-poets] speaking of which In a message dated 7/23/01 9:10:35 AM Eastern Daylight Time, jvotel@megapipe.net writes: > << It was great to see him again and to know > we're all going to get to hang out next weekend at Falcon Ridge, too. I know Rhiannon's already on her way, and there's Bern, Shannon, Cone, DjP (whom I just met the other day while picking him up from the airport), Jay, Libby, Pete and Maura in amidst the polyester, black lights and lava lamps.......anyone else I'm forgetting or neglecting? Imagine, Vance Gilbert 'letting it all hang out'! I'm not sure of the details but U can CHECK IT OUT! I've got plenty of room in my tent, butt B 4 warned...
