Review All the way from England, Fish Records seem to love the new CD. They're right; it is bloody good! DjP The Kennedys - Positively Live! While last year's 'Evolver' was a more produced album than those that had gone before it, this disc sees them together as a duo, just two guitars and their two voices. The fourteen tracks (including 7 never previously released) are in a coffeehouse folk/pop style, but with a strong roots feel in places, drawing on both American and Celtic traditions. It's the skill and fluidity of the guitar work that stands out as the highlight; the flexibility afforded by the live setting allows the pair to expand the breaks and bridges with some sublime playing. This disc really captures the excitement and atmosphere of a live show, without ever compromising the quality of the recording - it's bursting with energy and enthusiasm from the off, and it all sounds crystal clear. Live it may be, but it retains much of the polish of their studio performances, in particular Maura's vocals sound fantastic - easily a match for their studio work. This is an excellent live album that shows the band off in their best light - they're one of most accomplished and professional live acts around. #12.49 Samples http://www.fishrecords.co.uk/audio/rappa.ram http://www.fishrecords.co.uk/audio/lifeislarge.ram http://www.fishrecords.co.uk/audio/bend.ram - ------------------------------------------------- Check out the Kennedys' Official Home Page: http://www.KennedysMusic.com/ Fab photos, the Official tour diary, dashboard Buddha haiku, groovy merchandise...what more could you ask for? ------------------------------ End of jangle-poets-digest V3 #87 *********************************
