Some list! Although only one of those would be in my list of 10 (Nanci), there are so many that would come close that this is the first time I've ever seen someone else's list where I wouldn't mind if those were the CDs I got stranded with. NGDB's Riplin' Waters is one of the best songs ever recorded by anyone. I now have three recorded versions of it, and each is uniquely different from the others, and each is excellent. And, since I'm jumping in with a comment, I guess I should pass along my list, which I don't normally do. Partly because I never travel with less than 24 CDs (very short trip), and very rarely with less than 48, so I'll probably never get stranded with 10 CDs. And partly because so many of the ten "must-haves" would change from month to month. So here's 24, in no particular order: Jennifer Berezan - "Borderlines" Mary Black - "Looking Back" Jimmy Buffett - "Boats, Beachs, Bars" (Not "Ballads") Camel - "The Snowgoose" Kate Campbell - "Songs From The Levee" Mary-Chapin Carpenter - "Stones In The Road" Kasey Chambers - "The Captain" Guy Clark - "Boats To Build" Domestic Science Club - "Three Women" Steve Earle - El Corazon" Eddie From Ohio - "Actually Not" Fleetwood Mac - "Future Games" Fleetwood Mac - "Bare Trees" Dan Fogelberg - "Nether Lands" Peter Gabriel - "Secret World Live" Gin Blossums - "New Miserable Experience" Nanci Griffith - "Last Of The True Believers" Nanci Griffith - "One Fair Summer Evening" Nanci Griffith - "Flyer" Emmylou Harris - "Spyboy" Sara Hickman - "Necessary Angels" Jimmy Ibbotson and John McEuen - "Stories & Songs" The Kennedys - "River Of Fallen Stars" The Kennedys - "Angel Fire" Mark Knopfler - "Golden Heart" Gordon Lightfoot - "Gord's Gold" Lindisfarne - "Magic In The Air" Sarah McLachlan - "Mirror Ball" Lynn Miles - "Slightly Haunted" Julie Miller - "Orphans and Angels" Julie Miller - "Blue Pony" Julie Miller - "Broken Things" Van Morrison - "Live At The Grand Opera House Belfast" The Nields - "Bob On The Ceiling" The Nields - "Gotta Get Over Gretta" The Nields - "Mousse" The Nields - "Play" Nitty Gritty Dirt Band - "Dream" Nitty Gritty Dirt Band - "Live Two Five" Pink Floyd - "Dark Side Of The Moon" Poco - "The Very Best Of Poco" Rare Bird - "Epic Forest" Eddie Reader - "Angels & Electricity" Kim Richey - "Bitter Sweet" The Roches - "Speak" The Saw Doctors - "All The Way From Tuam" Al Stewart - "Past, Present And Future" Al Stewart - "Rhymes In Rooms" Al Stewart - "Between The Wars" Livingston Taylor "Good Friends" 10,000 Maniacs - "In My Tribe" 10,000 Maniacs - "Love Among The Ruins" The Vidalias - "Melody Land" Jerry Jeff Walker - "Viva Luckenbach" Susan Werner - "Time Between Trains" Cheryl Wheeler - "Circles And Arrows" Cheryl Wheeler - "Driving Home" Cheryl Wheeler - "Mrs Pinocci's Guitar" Wild Jimbos - "Wild Jimbos" Yes, that's how I pack, too. :) Ken Musically obsessive since always. - -----Original Message----- From: owner-jangle-poets@smoe.org [mailto:owner-jangle-poets@smoe.org]On Behalf Of CONE HEAD-REX Sent: Wednesday, May 09, 2001 10:31 PM To: jangle-poets@smoe.org Subject: [jangle-poets] Re: [DID]Off the top of my cone 1) Arlo Guthrie - Outlasting The Blues 2) Jackson Browne - Late For The Sky 3) Laurie Lewis - Love Chooses You 4) Dick's Picks #15 5) Seldom Scene Live At The Cellar Door 6) Nanci Griffith - One Fair Summer's Evening 7) Nitty Gritty Dirt Band - Dirt, Silver, And Gold 8) Ha Ha Ha - Live At The Birchmere 9) Django Rhinehardt - Hot Club Quintet Of Paris 10) Utah Phillips - Starlight On The Rails C-Head coneh@usa.net Check out the Kennedys' Official Home Page: http://www.KennedysMusic.com/ Fab photos, the Official tour diary, dashboard Buddha haiku, groovy merchandise...what more could you ask for?
