I met jangle-poets Sheila and Melissa last weekend at the Kennedys' songwriting seminar and decided to keep up with this list. I also $ub$cribe to the good-noise (John Gorka) and lucy-list (Lucy Kaplansky) digests. The seminar was great and inspiring for an old (beyond 30-something) singer-songwriter like me. It recharged my batteries more than any other song seminar I've attended. In real life I am a journalist in the Washington area and a big fan of the folk scene here and in Baltimore. In my "other" life, I'm a guitar and mandolin-playing vocalist, songwriter and performer who plays out on occasion in local bars, coffee houses, Elderhostels, and monthly bluegrass concerts in this region. For anyone on this list who is in the region, I noticed the earlier posts about Beth Amsel. She will be performing at Vic's Music Corner in Rockville, Md., March 14. It's a great small venue. I am not sure that I will be able to attend the show, but I can attest to the quality of the space -- plus for the non-vegetarians out there, the room is part of O'Brien's Barbecue and they do in fact serve some of the best Texas barbecue this side of Austin's Salt Lick. Hope to hear more from everyone. - --Jay Votel jvotel@megapipe.net/703-421-6252 votel@twtmail.com/202-636-3288 - ----------------------------------------------- "I have the body of a god.
