And as far as Pearl's Eye View is concerned, it's about photojournalist Dickey Chapelle, who was on the front lines of Iwo Jima and Okinawa, and who was finally killed at 47 by a land mine in Chu Lai, Vietnam on 11/4/65. I'm still trying to track down a biography of her, which is out of print, but what I've found on the Internet so far has entranced me and amazed me. The title for the song comes from the fact that she always wore pearl earrings and a flower in her hat to signify that she was a civilian and a "lady." This is one of my favorite new songs, along with Ride, Angel, Ride.
