So, add this to your radio 'bookmarks' or 'favorites': http://wwhp.com . Just a few of the folks who have dropped in to chat and play a few songs are: Kate Campbell, Jack Ingram, James McMurtry, R.B. Morris, Leftover Salmon, The Nields, Bob Cheevers, Saffire - those Uppity Blueswomen, Susan McKeown, Kevin Gordon, The Continental Drifters, BR5-49, Corey Harris, Big House, Robbie Fulks (who's been known to sit in for a few hours as guest DJ), Elvin Bishop, Lonnie Brooks, Delbert McClinton, Wayne "The Train" Hancock, and too many others to list here. Some of their other faves who you'll hear very frequently are: Toni Price, Shelby Lynne, Van Morrison, North Mississippi AllStars, Walter Trout, Monte Montgomery, Sam Bush, The Love Dogs, Shemekia Copeland, Koko Taylor, Deborah Coleman, Irma Thomas, etc. You get the idea. 'The Whip' doesn't follow ANY formula played by anyone else. They just play whatever they feel like. I've even heard a local kid sittin' in late at night playing 'heavy metal'. This 'live streaming' is new to 'em, and it may still have a few kinks to work out (like minor split-second dropouts, and such), and this really is smalltime radio. Don't expect a lot of polish from the on-air personalities. "Lonesome Larry" Williams is pretty much the station. He's a one man radio station. Larry's son "Chuck Wagon" Williams, webmistress/all-round helper Lori Allen, and a small staff of volunteer DJs, fill out the crew. Bottom line: these guys play great tunes, the music comes FIRST. So, add them to your bookmarks, they are a FUN alternative to have available. Be sure to drop 'Lonesome Larry' a note to tell him how you like the station, and tell him where you are listening. His e-address is: wwhp@farmwagon.com . Richard P.S. Kate Campbell is the proud owner of at least two "Whip" t-shirts :) . Oh, so NOW they have a radio station in Central Illinois worth listening to. 17 years AFTER I leave. And all I thought all they had in Farmer City was a library (I used to work for Corn Belt Library System) and a dirt race track (I've been there a couple times to see my brother race). :-) Thanks for the info, don And where does magic come from?
