Sharon Goldberg is a friend of yours? Groovy! I met her at a Dar show in Pennsylvania and she's cool. MJC I think I'll post this to jangle-poets because I never post there "I would live on the Brooklyn side if I could Look out my windows through those metal neon lines Of the fifty foot Domino Sugar sign Hangs over Brooklyn like a cross on a hill" - Brenda Kahn Check out the Kennedys' Official Home Page: http://www.KennedysMusic.com/ Fab photos, the Official tour diary, dashboard Buddha haiku, groovy merchandise...what more could you ask for? ------------------------------ Date: Sat, 16 Dec 2000 23:02:11 -0500 From: "James Coffin" Subject: [jangle-poets] Can't get enough jangle. Greetings to Everyone - I come to you by way of the darlist and Sheila (infamous Fantine###). Some time ago I responded to a darlist thread soliciting our input on favorite female voices. Maura's mention garnered me a really nice thank you note from Sheila. So I wrote back : >Folks on the darlist keep raving about the Kennedy's - but they were >raving for all the reasons that sets my curiosity gears spinning. Just >emotional statements that they loved their songs, their music and their >voices. Kinda vague with a complete lack of supportive technical >arguments. That's real fans talkin'; the kind I trust. >Evolver seemed to be the fave rave, so I did something that I usually >regret - I bought the CD without having heard so much as a note. Sort >of sight unseen; blind faith. Was I ever pleased! I pulled a similar >stunt with Angel Fire. Again, another lovely collection. I've been a huge fan of the Byrds ever since my 5th grade English teacher, Mr Goode, played Turn! Turn! Turn! and I heard that jingly-jangly guitar for the first time. The idea, according to Mr Goode, was that after listening to the song we would all discuss what we thought the lyrics meant. By the time he lifted the needle off the vinyl, my head was reeling, the room was spinning, my World had just been rocked and he was patiently awaiting my thoughts concerning Ecclesiastes! Mr Goode was cool like that. So, for me, it's extra cool that the Kennedys incorporate that long missing jangle into their very own, new music. They've managed to make a bridge to a sound and style from the past and build on it without going backwards themselves. I think that's amazing. I missed the concert in Glastonbury back in October due to circumstances so embarrassing that I dare not recount my own stupidity (I couldn't find the place), but I look forward to seeing you all at the Bridgeport show in February. I'll case the joint first, this time. 'till then - Jim Check out the Kennedys' Official Home Page: http://www.KennedysMusic.com/ Fab photos, the Official tour diary, dashboard Buddha haiku, groovy merchandise...what more could you ask for? ------------------------------ Date: Sat, 16 Dec 2000 23:50:57 EST From: JanglePoets@aol.com Subject: Re: [jangle-poets] Can't get enough jangle.
