It's too cliche now, especially living in a town like asheville. But the problem with more modern folk singers is that they dress like everyone else. Why is that a problem? Folks singers is folks. Folks wear clothes. Just dress up as yourself, no paraphanelia required. When someone asks "What are you this halloween" you can say "I left my pumpkin in a rocking chair so this year I'm a folk singer" If they say " you don't look like one" Say "Shows what you know" CW Well, I'm just average, common too Just like him, same as you I'm everybody's brother and son I ain't different than anyone Aint no use talking to me Be just the same as talking to you - ----Dylan ____________________________________________________________________ Get your own FREE, personal Netscape WebMail account today at http://home.netscape.com/webmail Check out the Kennedys' Official Home Page: http://www.KennedysMusic.com/ Fab photos, the Official tour diary, dashboard Buddha haiku, groovy merchandise...what more could you ask for? ------------------------------ Date: Mon, 25 Sep 2000 17:34:27 -0400 From: nell Subject: Re: [jangle-poets] Halloween (ok....so does anyone find it ironic that im emailing the person right behind me???) yeah....so i think for halloween rhiannon should put on some fishnets, spike up your hair, go topless, and wear kiss makeup....that way you'll look like a freaky version or david bowie or something...im sure hez a folk....so he counts, 'cause he sings.....haha...... peace me Check out the Kennedys' Official Home Page: http://www.KennedysMusic.com/ Fab photos, the Official tour diary, dashboard Buddha haiku, groovy merchandise...what more could you ask for? ------------------------------ Date: Mon, 25 Sep 2000 19:50:11 EDT From: Poisongold@aol.com Subject: Re: [jangle-poets] Halloween In a message dated 9/24/00 11:47:36 PM Eastern Daylight Time, lower-case rhiannon writes: << << I have decided that for halloween I'm going to be a folk singer. Any suggestions on what I > should wear to be a folk singer? >> >> Two years ago, when she was three years old, my daughter went out on Holloween as Shawn Colvin. She wore a black turtle neck and black leggings because that was what Shawn wore the one time my daughter saw her. She also had a guitar and a name tag that said "Hello, my name is Shawn Colvin" and carried her doll (which happens to be named "Shawn Colvin") around in a carrier to be Callie (Sahwn's daughter). I thought it was an excellent costume, but everyone gave her (and me) funny looks. Last year, she was going to be Nerissa Nields, and my son was going to be Dave (any/all Dave's) but they switched to being Blue and Red at the last moment (which also got strange looks). I'm sure that doesn't help any, but I felt like adding some input. : ) Harry ________________________________________________________________ YOU'RE PAYING TOO MUCH FOR THE INTERNET!
