I'm thinking up clever ways to get into the show anyhow, though, including but not limited to: writing "i'm under 21" on my 'forehead so there's no way i can drink, writing the same thing on a teeshirt for the same reason, begging, crying. that's okay though, because they can't kill hope with an age limit. if i have to go sit outside of the venue and listen from the outside, i WILL hear the kennedys on saturday night. - -rhiannon At 09:54 PM 9/14/00 -0400, you wrote: >anelle is very depressed and sad because due to the unfortunate circumstances >of her being born a few years too late, she is not old enough to enter jack >in the wood, and thus will not be able to see the kennedys yet again. it is >very depressing. excitement was building, and there was a large crowd >(numbering over 10) ready to come along with her, and it is just very >depressing. concert venues that have age limits suck and should be shot. >and booking agents that book at places like that for bands that have a >younger crowd should be chastised. i am now frowning and will go crawl into >a corner and cry because i cannot see the kennedys. blah. >peace >me > ----------------------------------------- "I'm stopping traffic, cinemagraphic With my long black coat hanging down in the dirt And my hair clinging to my face in the rain Like a goddess from the cult of beautiful pain" -dar williams ------------- http://www.unca.edu/~rcrichar/index2.htm ----------------------------------------- Check out the Kennedys' Official Home Page: http://www.KennedysMusic.com/ Fab photos, the Official tour diary, dashboard Buddha haiku, groovy merchandise...what more could you ask for? ------------------------------ Date: Thu, 14 Sep 2000 22:56:30 EDT From: JanglePoets@aol.com Subject: Re: [jangle-poets] Re: depression....sets in.... This is so sad :-( I don't know your individual situations, but Jack of the Woods will let you in with a "parent/guardian-type" figure (but not with younger, albeit, legal-aged friends) and will prominently mark your hand. I'd volunteer, but a 17-hour drive is a bit of a hike, plus, though I am 32, *I* still get carded, so they probably wouldn't buy that I had a couple of college-aged daughters...... Think creatively....I believe you guys can get yourselves in there. I'm wracking my brain as well, and am sending good vibes for a miracle (of course, it's with the ulterior motive of obtaining a thorough review of the show :-) Peace, Sheila Check out the Kennedys' Official Home Page: http://www.KennedysMusic.com/ Fab photos, the Official tour diary, dashboard Buddha haiku, groovy merchandise...what more could you ask for? ------------------------------ Date: Thu, 14 Sep 2000 23:36:26 -0400 From: rhiannon richard Subject: [jangle-poets] Re: depression....sets in.... Yeah. I'm seriously going to go sit out on the sidewalk and at least LISTEN to the show. Maybe the doorman will get annoyed enough that he'll let me in. I'm very ill at the way the venue talked to me. At the time i thought the guy was being nice, but in retrospect I think he was just being patronizing. He implied that they'd made exceptions before, but don't anymore. And they are only all ages on friday and saturday, so it's not like it's the official club policy. I'm wondering if maybe the guy I talked to was just some bar tender with no authority, I should've asked to speak to the manager. I'm going down there saturday night to try my best. Everyone wish me luck! Besides, if I wanted to drink, why would I go through THIS much trouble? Wouldn't I just get drunk in my DORMROOM where there are a bazzilion people willing to buy me alcohol? That's what would make sense, i think. don't get me wrong though, i *do* understand the club's attitude. I understand that they have a lot at stake, but I think that there are many ways to prevent me from drinking, and that common sense would tell them that. And overall I've been very lucky in the past... I've only had one problem in the past, and that was with an EFO show, but that club ended up being very leniant, and letting us sell merch (and we're pretty sure that they weren't carding people anyhow). Well, we'll just have to see... this club is going to have a hard time getting rid of rhiannon-the-north-carolina-folk-girl-extrodinaire. They've pissed me off, and I may be little, but gosh darnit, i'm persistant. :~) yay kennedys! - -rhiannon "i'm big and tall, you're not, you're small" - -the nields! (if you tatto "i'm not 21 on your forhead PLEASES take pictures rhiannon). i missed the kennedys in san francisco because i am 20. don't let this happen again. next time the kennedys come back to northern california i'll be 21, but still. those laws are dumb. get a handstamp, that's what they do at other places! o holey katie (don't ask) Katie Stohlmann stohlman@sfsu.edu http://userwww.sfsu.edu/~stohlman/nields.htm Check out the Kennedys' Official Home Page: http://www.KennedysMusic.com/ Fab photos, the Official tour diary, dashboard Buddha haiku, groovy merchandise...what more could you ask for? ------------------------------ End of jangle-poets-digest V2 #33 *********************************
