I think that the kennedys should start taking him on stage with them. He could tell them what songs to play and if they forget the words, he could remind them (all in the form of a haiku, of course). Oh my! I'm so excited about a new kennedys CD! And "galaxy express" is a great name. Does anybody know if they're playing any new songs at shows? Also, are does anybody know if there are any kennedys songs that are REALLY easy to play on guitar? I'm imagining that there aren't, but I thought I'd ask. And when I say "really" i mean, "EXTREMELY"...because I've only had my guitar for a month (it was falcon ridge inspired). I'm determined to learn how to play this thing!!! - -rhiannon At 04:26 PM 8/30/00 EDT, you wrote: >Secondly, glad someone has spotted Dashboard Buddha! He's very wise. Let's >see...what can we give away about it? How 'bout the title: "Galaxy Express"! First time I saw Pete and Maura, they did a beautiful version of "Sin City". After the show Pete told me it would be on their "next CD" meaning after Angel Fire which was then in the can. Well the next CD was Evolver with no "Sin City". I sure would love it to be on the new CD, though maybe they've moved to a more upbeat sound. Maura's singing was gorgeous...I liked it even better than Emmylou's. It turned out to have a totally different feel to it, and she included the verse: I've played cards in England, I've played cards in Spain, I bet you ten dollars, I'll beat you again I think I prefer Pete and Maura's take....a little more twangy and a LOT less hollering....though I always enjoy hearing someone else's interpretation. Here is the set list as I noted it from the only band show I've seen: The Kennedys February 16, 2000 Southgate House Newport, KY (Band - Pete, Maura, Ron Campbell, Steve Hansgen) 1. Good Morning Groovy (ending with Beatles' "Tomorrow Never Knows") 2. Jesse 3. Can't Kill Hope with a Gun 4. The Coo Coo (with "These are a Few of My Favorite Things" riff) 5. Never Learn 6. Pick You Up 7. Down Down Down 8. Eight Miles High (Byrds) (with band intros) 9. Life Is Large Break 10. Wall of Death (Richard Thompson) 11. WinterHeart 12. Keep The Place Clean 13. River of Fallen Stars 14. Feel a Whole Lot Better (Byrds) 15. Girl With The Blonde Eye 16. Mr. Lucky Man 17. Sirens (with "Pinball Wizard" bit) 18. Life Large - reprise Encore: She Loves You (The Fab Four) Any other fans care to submit a list? I was so excited, I was going to post the set list from the Grey Eagle show in Asheville back in March. So I pull out my trusty concert scrapbook... turn to that concert... I find a couple of pictures and autographs. No setlist. I was sad. Then I thought to myself, "self...there is still something you can add to this conversation". I have a HAHAHA set list. So, if you're curious as to what the Nields and The Kennedys like to play TOGETHER...then this is the post for you. This is from the Birchmere show in Alexandria, VA on June 3,2000 (note: this is NOT the set list from the kennedys set...but rather from the set at the end of the show that they did WITH the nields): Lovely Rita Mr. Right Now (nields) Mr. Tambourine Man I'm So Lonesome I Could Cry (which, not written by the nields, has been recorded by them) The Times They Are A Changing Mr. Lucky Man For What It's Worth Actually, I'm not sure if this is from the Birchmere show or the Cat's Cradle show on June 1st. Does anybody know for sure? I should start labelling these things!!! I also know that they opened the show at the Cat's Cradle with "Good Morning Groovy." It's the only time I've seen them open with anything but "Life is Large". and usually they close with Life is Large too... maybe it was because they only had an opening slot that night, but at the birchmere it was a split bill and the grey eagle they headlined? Have I mentioned recently that I *love* getting setlists? Nerissa Nields actually came back to the front of the stage to hand us the set list once, I guess she knew we wanted it! - -rhiannon At 10:45 PM 8/31/00 EDT, you wrote: >Any other fans care to submit a list? Does anybody know for sure? >> I think this might have been the Cat's Cradle show, Rhiannon. I say that only because I was at the Birchmere and it seemed like the HaHaHa portion was TWICE as long. I remember the Nields only playing a few songs and thinking that that was it, before they came back out with Pete, Maura, the Kennedys' band and even Ben Demerath, not to mention the veritable Nields/Jones family-and-friends reunion on-stage for I Still Believe in My Friends, and I seem to remember them doing Orphan Girl and some others which are escaping me. I missed most of Pete and Maura's set due to time lost along the NJ Turnpike, but caught the reprise of Life is Large. I was so psyched to see them join the Nields for most of the rest of the show, since I had missed them opening! And Ben was like the cherry on top, since he's from the Nields' neck of the woods, and mine, sort of. I never expected to see him there!! But I don't remember them playing "times they are a changin'" at the cradle. I know that "I still believe in my friends" was played at the birchmere, but for some reason I know that it wasn't on the set list. Hmmmm. It's a mystery. Can anybody solve it? - -rhiannon At 11:43 PM 8/31/00 EDT, you wrote: >I think this might have been the Cat's Cradle show, Rhiannon.
