There's always something cool that happens at a Kennedys show. :-) Here's the top 5 cool things that happened at a Kennedys show: 5). The "Ha-ha-ha" show at the Birchmere this summer that featured an appearance of the Superheros. 4). Both Barns of Wolf Trap shows: a). seeing the renewal vows video on the big screen and b). jamming with Robbie Schaefer and Michael Clem of Eddie From Ohio. 3). The first show I saw: One of the first appearances of "Ha-ha-ha" and hearing Pete and Maura's extra verse of "The Times They Are A-Changing." Oh, here that is for those who haven't seen it in my .sig file before: Come senators, congressmen, do what is best And don't try to act like you've never had sex You're pompous, self-riteous [sic] and boring at best And our patience is rapidly fading We're sick of your faces on our TV sets For the times, they are a-changing! Updated lyrics to "The Times They Are A-Changing" by The Kennedys -- Ram's Head Tavern 1/22/1999 2). Opening for Susan Werner on the night before Halloween 1999. We didn't see Pete and Maura, but Jack and Jackie come out on stage (I wish I had a pic of that. There used to be one on their site, but not sure where it is now). Pete continued to wear his mask for the first 4-5 songs until "Angels Cry" when Maura cracked up after looking over at him while she was singing that beautiful song. And the #1 cool thing that happened at a Kennedys show: 1). Falcon Ridge Folk Festival 1999: After seeing a fantastic set on Friday night, I was a little late to the Saturday workshops and ran to the Family tent to see The Kennedys set. When I got there the place was packed with kids all singing Life is Large. They went on to include audience participation which I was able to capture on film: http://www.concentric.net/~donsem/kenfr.htm don What we do in love and kindness Is all we ever leave behind -- Carrie Newcomer, "Bare To The Bone" Don Semmens; Richmond VA; donsem@concentric.net check out the Kennedys' Official Home Page: http://www.kennedysmusic.com/ ------------------------------ Date: Thu, 10 Aug 2000 23:37:16 EDT From: JanglePoets@aol.com Subject: [jangle-poets] Kennedy coolness Don wrote: << The first show I saw: One of the first appearances of "Ha-ha-ha" and hearing Pete and Maura's extra verse of "The Times They Are A-Changing." >> They did this at the Birchmere on June 3rd too (my birthday!), except the verse went something like this (forgive me if it's off....this is totally from memory): Come senators, congressmen, make up your mind Don't think we're ungrateful, don't think we're unkind Does the NRA own you? Now make up your mind If our children to you are worth saving Tell Charlton Heston he can kiss our behinds For the times, they are a-changin' And, visual aids were provided for Charlton, in case he couldn't find said behinds. Any other verses like these running around out there? I thought this was among many of the coolest things that were happening at the Birchmere that evening, especially since the government seemed to have very little sense of humor OR compassion when I accidentally ended up on one of those "no access" exits on my way through DC. Did you ever notice that Pete and Maura never got to MEET the superheroes that night? They always just missed each other :-) Katryna even remarked that she thought they'd be really good friends if they could only meet.....
