I own every Wire release and have been a admirer of the music since 76. I've seen them many times and always held them is high esteem and quoted to people on my travels that Wire were my favourite band when prompted with this question by muso's and friends. I'm really disappointed with it and here is why' I went to see Ruts DC last week and quite frankly when I think of the attitude now as an original Punk and what it all stood for and where these both bands came from and where they are now. I've finally realised Wire has treated the loyal fans quite shitty and seem to be in it now just for the money. Even at the gigs Newman and Lewis are arrogant with the paying crowd no banter, no appreciation in fact they don't even notice we are there, releasing bootleg album series etc to make extra cash and then having already forked out for Documents vinyl and cd formats they release a new album with versions of these tracks. Segs and Duffy really know who they are and know who we are and appreciate the crowd. The new Ruts DC album cost me a tenner and it has far better tracks and is better produced than the latest offering from Wire. Yes I'll continue to buy Wire albums as there is a place in my heart for the music but as people they are now taking fckg liberties.
