["keith a" Subject: [idealcopy] Downtime (Sort of Wire related...) Dunno if anyone is into mash-ups? Anyway, downloaded Uptimes / Downtimes (legally!) from here... http://www.kleptones.com/pages/downloads.html I preferred Downtime to Uptime by some distance after one listen, as the latter seemed an altogether more patchy affair. Downtime is lovely though. Highlight after one play was undoubtedly Freeze which is Scott Walker's 30th Century Man, with the acoustic base removed and replaced with an electronic one (that I didn't recognise TBH - anyone help?). I remember hearing the original for the first time and thinking "Right, that's where Scott influenced Julian Cope!". Very Use Me! But bizarrely, in this altered form it sounds remarkably like He Said. Love it - gone back and played it a few times! The soft backdrop for the YYY's Maps works beautifully, too. Love them if I like the originals and if it's done with some imagination... CCC's Beatles stuff is fun but, as Ari has said, it's not better than the originals... - ----- Original Message ----- From: "keith a" To: Sent: Thursday, February 25, 2010 1:10 PM Subject: [idealcopy] Downtime (Sort of Wire related...) > Dunno if anyone is into mash-ups? > > > > Anyway, downloaded Uptimes / Downtimes (legally!) from here... > > > > > http://www.kleptones.com/pages/downloads.html > > > > I preferred Downtime to Uptime by some distance after one listen, as the > latter seemed an altogether more patchy affair. > > Downtime is lovely though.
