The NBC website posted two more songs from the rehearsal. I've included all three songs, and posted a bit more about it in my blog: http://theidealcopy.blogspot.com/2009/12/jawbox-on-fallon.html Cheers, Paul ------------------------------ Date: Wed, 9 Dec 2009 11:26:32 -0000 From: "Bruno Clements" Subject: Re: [idealcopy] The pride of history 45 english pounds?! And after Mr L pocketed a load of dosh for those butter ads too... Bill Bailey said in an interview for the Independent on Saturday that he was offered #300,000, I think it was, for Asda ads - which he turned down. Mr L presumably got less than that but he still can't be short of cash. I think if I'd been Bill I'd have taken the money, done the ad, given the money away and then slagged off Asda, which would have made all the tabloids. As it is he's slagged off Asda but nobody was listening. I've no objection to people taking ad cash if it's going to be used for something interesting. Can't imagine they'll make a loss on the gigs though so perhaps the butter cash just acts as a guarantee to the money men who have to back these things now. They get their fair share for security, ushers, etc...and they charge that much cause they can. Did I mention the booking fee? (handling charge? pay for shipping or willcall. it's the same) We still have a few venues in Columbus where you can see brand name bands for a fraction of the big hall price. Mind you, some of these places are real shite holes. A lot of washed up bands play these places as well. We recently saw David Cross at an arts venue. Tickets were around $30. After ticketmaster, taxes, venue fees and mystery charges the tickets cost about $50. We did have front row, but the entire floor section was the same price. Used to be you paid the ticket price and all was included. I used to go to about 10-12 big shows a years. Now it's 2 or 3 if I'm lucky. I'm sure Mr. Lydon is getting his share, but everyone else has their hand in the till as long as consumers are willing to pay the ridiculous prices. Ticketmaster will never go away, but they could lower the surcharges on tickets so I don't feel like I'm getting screwed every time I want to see a show. wnd3 You are receiving this email because I sent it to you.
