On the subject anyone else going to see Cluster supporting Tortoise at the RFH on 22 Nov? (sorry, I realise this is a resounding 'no' from anyone out of reach of London). I have no real interest in Tortoise but the thought of Cluster live was too good to pass up. Cluster is Dieter Moebius and Hans-Joachim Rodelius. Add Michael Rother and you get Harmonia. Though I do like 'Millions now living will die' or whatever the Tortoise album is called. Surprisingly effective KrautJazz. I wonder if Tortoise will have any 'special guests'?... Very occasionally there's something on Krautrock. There was a 'history of German rock' series a few years ago that had a good Krautrock episode, including a clip of Neu! live playing Hero off Neu 75. Dinger singing, his brother on drums, Rother on guitar. Sadly it only went up to about 1980, so it ended with Scorpions. No Palais Schaumburg, DAF, Krupps, Neubauten etc. Obviously it's all in German.... There was also a German rock all-nighter, with about 6 hours of stuff, ranging from 60 German Beat Combos via Can, Popol Vuh etc to poodle metal (Ze Vinds off Change, etc). Included some recent Rother/Moebius performances too. I think this exists as a torrent on Dimeadozen or similar sites.
