Original PiL had loads of dread, and it was this element, for me, that distinguishes it from post-Wobble/Levine Pil, regardless of the quality of the players. First Issue, Metal Box, Paris Au Printemps, Peel sessions, Career Without A future, and Flowers of Romance are dread-full; TIWYW, Happy, 9 etc. are dreadless. The new lineup reeks of dreadlessness. I agree with those who said Lydon should have renamed those latter collaborations as the 'John Lydon Band'. I would, however, be happy to be proven wrong about these guys. re: Part Time Punks Festival: Is this particular festival coming to New York, or elements of it? If not, where might I best find info on > > "There are a lot of great shows coming to NY soon" > > > I don't live in NY, but I know where it is, and if the right bands > were coming (hello, the EX!), I'd be there. ------------------------------ Date: Sun, 13 Sep 2009 22:12:52 +0100 From: "keith a" Subject: [idealcopy] RE: GITHEAD Ooops - meant Take Off!
