It looks like the boys plus one will be playing at the Electric Ballroom but you'll probably have to wait for the day to find out who else is playing there and elsewhere. I wouldn't have thought that there would be too much difficulty getting into the Ballroom near the Wire time so if you're exploring other venues, I can recommend Kasms, who are fun in a 'female vocalist throws herself to the floor' sort of way, The Chapman Family, and of course Art Brut. Get well very soon mate. Chris ------------------------------ Date: Mon, 20 Apr 2009 23:06:42 +0100 From: Bunny Smedley Subject: Re: [idealcopy] Camden Crawl Keith: ouch, and best wishes Others: as a veteran of Crawls past, Electric Ballroom hasn't historically been too difficult to get into - it's quite large and they don't usually put the absolute largest acts there. (I've seen Metronomy, Billy Bragg and Kissaway Trail there in previous years.) I believe (according to semi reliable source) that Art Brut, the Whip and the Bunnymen are all at Koko. No idea when / where Wire are on, but if it is indeed Electric Ballroom this is conveniently central. Key Crawl tips are: * develop a plan of who you want to see (bearing in mind the benefit of avoiding getting from the roundhouse to koko in 5 mins flat) and try to stick to it ... * whilst preserving a 'plan B' (of plausible 2nd tier but nearby attractions) in case of ludicrous queues * try to figure out which small venue will get oversubscribed (egs from previous years Amy Winehouse at Dublin Castle, Crystal Castles at Purple Turtle). If you really want to see the 'exciting' band, get there very early (eg 3 bands prior to when you want to be there). Otherwise, find other things to do My main concern this year is that there are more 'established names' and fewer 'emerging names' which may have an odd impact on the crowd dynamics. (Bunny and I will be Crawling again this year.) ------------------------------ End of idealcopy-digest V11 #68 *******************************
