The band will play in Austin, Dallas, Denver, and Seattle in the week following its April 19 headlining slot in Indio, Calif." ..and they're playing Seattle! Yay! So - looks like I'll be seeing Leonard Cohen & My Bloody Valentine at the same venue. Hopefully not at the same time though. ^_^ Although... that might be interesting... ^_^; Cheers, Paul ------------------------------ Date: Fri, 13 Mar 2009 20:57:03 -0000 From: "Keith Knight" Subject: RE: [idealcopy] tv tonight Hmm, I'm thinking that the Antony & The Johnsons album may be the best thing I've heard so far this year - but then I haven't heard that much. Take it from someone who usually wishes the sound engineer would turn it up (and was baffled by the guy next to me with earplugs in at a recent Stereolab gig which was at such a polite volume I wondered if perhaps he just didn't like the band and didn't want to hear them at all!) Anyway...You'll need em for the finale. Shame there was no Cabs, Ubu, or Swell Maps etc. But oh my god what a giant leap backward in popular culture The Strokes were. And so much to answer for (Arctic Monkeys, Doherty and all the skinn-jeans, lazy arse bollocks that followed). In hindsight, they were the godfathers of landfill indie. Anthony? All very tasteful but hard to get excited about. Plus I've seen him live and, as I found to my cost he really really only has one 'mode'...desparately maudlin song of existential angst and it all got a bit relentless after a while. One long frown. There is no light & shade with this fella. Someone should lend him some Laura Nyro & Kate Bush albums.
