And Tim suggests, my reply is that of a totally unbiased listener! Anyway, the short reply is that although not perfect I reckon BS is Copey's best in some time and would recommend it to anyone who has ever liked the bloke. Those of you wanting a more detailed appraisal can click the link here... http://www.evilsponge.org/albums/CopeJulian__BlackSheep.htm Rating is out of 7 and not ten for some reason (PJ may be able to shed some light on that!) As some of you know, I saw Cope at his last gig (supported by the ever so plastic Pete Burns, who sang You Spin Me Round karaoke style to a backing track, which was better than it sounds. Brought a smile to my face anyway!) Anyway, it was a solo Cope performance apart from when he was joined by a couple of blokes on acoustic guitars and one on a single big band drum for Sunspots and a couple of new tracks midway through the set, and again at the end for a Sleeping Gas which included the obligatory rant which included on this occasion a mention of Norman Wisdom! TBH I'd have liked more with this acoustic band because it really was a good sound! Hopefully he'll do more of that in London, so my advice is...GO!! K. Keith kindly kept me updated on the movements of the Dunlop-lipped Diva. It transpired that Burns took to the stage just as Colin Newman was intoning "..How many Dead or Alive"! ------------------------------ End of idealcopy-digest V10 #491 ********************************
